About Us The Klie farm is a family owned farm that is located along the Colorado-Kansas state line. This is a Colorado Century family farm having been in the family for over 112 years. Our farm ground is located in both states sitting right on the Colorado/Kansas state line. We own approximately 1800 acres of land and rent another 320 acres all of which is Certificate Organic through OCIA and NOP. We believe in growing heathy livestock and nutritious grains. We do not use any chemicals or commercial fertilizers, we only use the manure from our own cattle pens to improve the soil. Our cattle are also certified organic through OCIA and NOP. Browse through our Products for Sale Ingredients The ham, bacon and sausage contains no MSG or soy. The pork and beef is USDA inspected at time of processing. The Therapeutic mitt and facial mask are made from cotton flannel and are filled with organic flax seed that has been raised on our farm. The flour is made from organic whole grain berries, this includes all of the ingredients naturally occurring in the berry (germ and bran). The Organic White Milo (sorghum) is food grade is and is ground using a dedicated grinder to prevent contamination from wheat or triticale products. The corn also has a dedicated grinder to also prevent contamination. Only one of our products (Pork Chili-Cheese Brats) contains a small amount of soy in the seasoning. Practices (our standards for raising or making our products) The cattle are raised on pasture,organic hay,and are finished on organic oats. We do not use antibiotics, growth hormones or vaccinations on the livestock. The beef are processed at a USDA inspected facility in Northwest Kansas. All beef are born and raised on our farm. Our pigs are conventionally raised from birth as there are no organic pigs within 350 miles from our farm. When we purchase the baby pigs they weigh 30-50# and are 8-12 weeks old. After we get the pigs they are fed on organic corn, never any GMO corn or soybeans. We are using alfalfa as a protein source for them. They also get garden scraps when we clean off the garden in the fall. They consider this a treat. The pigs are raised in a dirt pen so they can root to their hearts content. During the winter they are bedded with organic straw baled from our wheat fields. The wheat and triticale are grown without chemicals, herbicides, fertizlers or pesticides. We use crop rotation and manure from our livestock for nutritents, following OCIA standards for application regulations. Additional Information Beef are red angus-tarentaise cross. The wheat is Prowers 99 which is a variety that has good milling quality. Turkey Red wheat which is an Heirloom variety that came to KS in the 1870's. This is a pure strain of wheat that has not been hybridized. The White Wheat is called Danby. It makes a softer bread and excellent pita pockets. The Triticale also produces an excellent flour that has a sweeter taste. The Pork is a naturaly raised animal with NO soybean meal used in the feed ration. The corn meal is ground from organic corn, we have yellow, blue and white corn. We have added white milo (sorghum) flour for gluten free products. |
