Product Types: Frozen Yak (Tibetan Beef) Meat

About Us
As a busy 3 member family, husband, wife, and son, the health benefits of eating a red meat that has a higher protein level, higher HDL (good) cholesterol level, with significantly less calories, LDL (bad) cholesterol and fat levels, really caught our attention.

These horned animals themselves are naturally healthier and require less care, and in general, are easier to handle than regular cattle. Originating from Tibet, they are used for pack animals up to 25,000 feet, as well as for their meat, milk, and hair. Belonging to the bovine family, they readily cross breed with regular cattle, which is how we are able to raise a healthier red meat, while retaining the taste and appearance of the familiar 'beef'.

We saw our first 'Yak' at the Denver Stock Show, the first year they had them. Out of curiosity, we went to the auction, and low and behold, not even owning a stock trailer at the time, I waved my hand and bought the last cow/calf pair they sold. This of course was at my husband's urging so since he made me do the bidding and buying, I made him figure out how we were going to get these strange-looking critters over 250 miles home, in a Ford Crown Vic. It's been up and down hill every since!

Ingredients
At least 95% pure meat.

A comparison chart per 6oz. serving of ground meat shows:

MEAT................................................FAT................PROTEIN..........CALORIES

Ground Beef........................................26.60%...........16.60%..................531

Chicken Breast w/o skin.......................9.30%.............20.90%.................295

Pure Yak..............................................3.80%.............22.95%................214

***1/2 Blood Yak....................................5.45%.............22.05%................231

***This is what we sell, since it is not cost effective to butcher our 'producers'!! That would be like killing the goose that lays the golden eggs!!

Practices (our standards for raising or making our products)
All our critters are raised in a free-range and grass-fed environment. They are never injected with or fed anything containing hormones, additives, or antibiotics producing an all natural meat. Our animals are processed at a nearby USDA, federally inspected plant.

The only time an animal is given an antibiotic is for an infection/injury or short term illness, after which, it is never sold as a 'butcher' animal.
