About Us
Welcome to my doggone farm. I am a widow on a small farm in NW KS. I have been raising Pembroke Welsh Corgi dogs for about 11 years. I am not a "kennel" breeder, more of a back porch breeder with only 2 litters a year. I do have an assortment of other dogs that were in need of a stable life long home. I have the reputation that all dogs are welcome, and my farm can be their safe haven.
I was born and raised on a farm and it is the only life I know. My Dad was a large grain farmer and cattle rancher and I spent my years growing up working along side him. He relied on hard work and mother nature and never used "additives" in his farming or cattle operation. So I was raised to respect the land and to be a caring caretaker of the animals. I am so grateful for all that my parents taught me, things I could never learn from a book.
Being a widow there are some things that I need help with so my farming operation is taken care of by Klie Farm (also members of High Plains Food Cooperative) and through their hard work my farm is certified organic.
My interest in making dog treats started when I checked the labels on a lot of the treats available. I couldn't believe what I was feeding my dogs, so I wanted to make a wholesome treat without additives or preservatives. The name of my treats is Bookies. This is in memory of a very tenacious Miniature Pinscher of mine, named Bookie.
So from my farm to your home I hope to provide you with a tail wagging product.

Ingredients
My chickens are free roamers, I don't know if that is the correct term, but they literally roam the entire farm. They pick and scratch wherever they choose and I supplement with grains such as corn, wheat and milo. Most of my hens are brown egg layers with size of eggs varying.
My dog treats are made with quality ingredients, never any salt, additives or preservatives. Because of being preservative free the treats need to be refrigerated or frozen for optimum freshness. The meat used in some of the treats is USDA inspected. I use natural, organic ingredients whenever possible to make tasty treats for your canine companion. The eggs are from my chickens so I know they are fresh and natural. If your dog has a wheat allergy, I make a wheat free biscuit also.
Practices (our standards for raising or making our products)
I am a firm believer that all animals great and small need to live on the land, not confined to a small patch of barren ground, or even worse concrete pens. My chickens have never been caged or penned which allows them plenty of exercise and places to dust themselves. The dogs have free roam of the farm and are a great deterrent to would be predators of the chickens. Visitors are amazed at how well the dogs get along with the chickens. I have come to the conclusion that the chickens think they are dogs and the dogs think they are human. Whatever the reason it is a happy combination.
Additional Information
Bookies come in a variety of flavors and sizes of biscuits. They are sold in small and large packages.
