RJ Klie farm is situated along the Colorado-Kansas border on Hwy 36. It was started 116 years ago by my great grand father and a great aunt. Our farm is noted as a century farm with the Colorado Depart of Agriculture. The state line between Colorado and Kansas runs through our yard with our house sitting in KS by 100 feet. The pigs and chickens are in Colorado and the cattle range in Colorado and Kansas. We farm about 2100 certified organic acres, most of it being in Colorado. Our cattle are also certified organic. All of the cattle which are Red Angus-Tarentaise cross, pigs and chickens are fed only organic hay and grains. We buy the pigs as baby's therefore they are not organic. We also by the chickens as baby's directly from the hatchery. The pigs have large dirt pens so they can root in the dirt and during the summer when it gets hot we run them water holes so they can get into them to cool off. The chickens also are able to get out into a large pen to eat weeds and run around. We raise most of the grain that we grind as flour. We also offer Milo, Brown Rice and Rye. Check out the store front and browse through all the items that we offer.
We raise all of our animals with the belief of natural living conditions, no antibiotics, no growth hormones and no soy. They are fed only organic feed and grains. However if a animal does get sick it will be treated and then be sold through the sale barn. All Beef and Pork are processed at the Kensington Locker at Kensington KS. The Chickens are processed at Grables in McPherson, KS. With all of it being USDA inspected. The pigs are feed organic grain that we raise along with a Hog Grower feed which is non Soy.
